Thank you, Mel.

Due North Events host running events based in the north of England. Specialising in trail running, we provide coaching weekends, races, holidays and short breaks for runners and walkers.  Our events cater for all abilities from 5k to ultra runners.

Due North are proud to work with legendary sports personalities, providing inspirational talks from guest speakers such as Joss Naylor, Nicky Spinks and Kenny Stuart to name a few.

Our events are aimed to improve knowledge, gain skills and confidence but most importantly to enjoy running.

Over the last few weeks the ‘Lock Down’ situation has seen more and more people turning to nature and the outdoors for some respite.  This has made me feel that something good will come of this horrid situation.  Due North Events was founded 3 years ago with the aim to get more people outside and active. I strongly believe that being outdoors and with nature is vital for our wellbeing. Due North Events try to promote equality and focus on events which are inclusive and suit most abilities. We have courses for complete beginners right through to 100k Ultra races. Our aim is to help people who may need a little guidance or a confidence boost, to learn the skills needed to go outdoors feeling safe and confident and enjoy the beauty of our countryside.  However whilst a lot more people have been able to get outside in this beautiful weather to keep a healthy mind and body, the key workers are still stuck inside working harder than ever, under more pressure, risking their lives so that we can keep functioning. That is why we are offering FREE ‘courses’ – I prefer to call them Days Out, to any supermarket worker who has been employed during the lock down.  This is aimed at all abilities but I am really interested in attracting people who wouldn’t normally take part in outdoor activities such as Hiking, Trail Running etc. These will obviously only start once social distancing measures have been relaxed. The Days Out on offer will be –

Lake District or Yorkshire Dales Walks with a leader

Beginner 2-4 mile flat footpaths

Intermediate 3-6 Miles, May include low level hills

Intermediate + 5-10 Miles, Hills and more technical terrain

We will look at various guide books on offer for local walks, & websites that give free walking routes with written descriptions so that people can go away and continue to get out in the country with more confidence.

Basic Map Reading for Walkers and Runners

Based in the Lakes District or The Yorkshire Dales, look at the basics of maps, route planning, Rights of Ways, Using a compass. This will be an outdoors practical session with 1 hour indoors (restrictions permitting)

Guided Trail Running

Complete Beginner – Someone who has just started running or wants to start running, we will get on an easy trail footpath, walk-jog – run

Beginner to Intermediate – Someone who already runs 10k but would like to try off road running. Try different terrain &  hills.

Intermediate – You may already be a trail runner or experienced road runner but would like to trail run in a new area with a group and run leader.

All the sessions will include looking at books and websites and clothing/kit so that you can take home the experience but also know how to continue by yourself or with other groups.

Please share to friends and family who are Supermarket workers and to register simply email info@duenorthevents.com and ask to be put on the register.  Places are limited so this will be a first served first come basis. As soon as restrictions are lifted, dates will be organised.

Thank You
